$49.00

Learn about how to classify soils according to the Unified Soil Classification System. Information presented in self-learning format. Each volume is a separate easy to use booklet. Periodic self-tests help you measure your progress in learning how to classify soils.

  • Volume 1 leads you through using laboratory test results to determine a classification.
  • Volume 2 shows you how to use simple hand tests and visual observations to make a field (visual) classification.

Description

The first two volumes are in a self-learning format.  The third volume is information that is not used to classify soils but is useful for logging and writing soil descriptions.  The process of classifying organic soils is also in the third volume.

The manual is designed so that someone unfamiliar with soil classification can learn from the beginning. The information starts with the basics.  An experienced person may skip ahead.

At the end of various sections in this manual, there are self-test questions.
